Skip Tab — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2025-08-07
Overview
Skip Tab helps you exclude specific tabs from your Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab navigation loop so you can switch between only the tabs that matter. This privacy policy explains how Skip Tab handles data.
- No data leaves your device
- No analytics, no tracking
- No external requests for core functionality
- All data is stored locally in your browser
What the Extension Does
- Skip or unskip the current tab so it’s excluded from navigation
- Navigate left/right across non-skipped tabs using keyboard shortcuts
- View and manage a list of all skipped tabs
- Everything is stored locally — no network, no tracking
Permissions Used
Skip Tab requests the minimum permissions required to function:
- storage: To store your locally kept list of skipped tabs and any settings.
- contextMenus: To provide quick “Skip/Unskip Current Tab” actions from the right‑click menu.
These permissions are used solely to deliver the features described above. You can review or revoke permissions anytime in Chrome’s extension settings.
Local-Only Data Storage
Skip Tab uses Chrome’s storage
APIs to keep your skipped tab entries and preferences on your device.
If Chrome Sync is enabled, this data may sync across your devices via your Google account. We do not have access to this data and do not operate any servers for Skip Tab.
- Reinstall behavior: Reinstalling the extension resets the skipped list unless it is restored by Chrome Sync.
- No external transmission: The extension does not send this data to any external service.
No Personal Data Collection
Skip Tab does not collect, transmit, or sell personal data. There are no analytics, advertising, or third‑party tracking libraries in the core extension.
Third‑Party Services
Skip Tab’s core functionality does not rely on third‑party services. If optional features are introduced in the future that integrate with external APIs, they will be clearly indicated and subject to the third party’s terms and privacy policy. Such features will be optional.
Data Security
We minimize permissions and keep data local to reduce risk. While no software can be perfectly secure, Skip Tab is designed to avoid unnecessary data collection and external transmission.
Children’s Privacy
Skip Tab is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the extension evolves or to meet legal requirements. The “Last updated” date above will be revised when changes are made. Continued use after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
